NASYA

NASYA AYURVEDIC THERAPY

Nasya Ayurvedic therapy is a traditional Ayurvedic treatment that focuses on nasal administration of herbal oils or medicated substances. It is believed to have numerous benefits for both physical and mental health. The process involves the following steps:

  • Preparation: The therapist prepares the medicated oil or herbal concoction suitable for your condition. The ingredients used may vary depending on the specific purpose of the therapy.

  • Warm-up: Before the actual administration, the therapist may apply gentle massage or steam to the face and nasal area to relax and open up the nasal passages.

  • Positioning: You will be asked to lie down on your back with your head tilted slightly backward. This allows for easy access to the nasal passages.

  • Drops or Inhalation: The therapist will administer the medicated oil or herbal solution into your nostrils. This can be done by either applying a few drops or through inhalation techniques using a special device called a Nasya pot or Nasya oil dropper.

  • Massage: After the administration, the therapist may perform a gentle massage around the nose, forehead, and sinus areas to help the absorption of the medicated substances.

  • Rest: It is recommended to rest for a short period after the therapy to allow the herbal oils or substances to penetrate deeply into the nasal passages.

The Nasya Ayurvedic therapy aims to promote overall well-being by balancing the doshas (energetic forces) in the body, improving respiratory health, relieving sinus congestion, enhancing mental clarity, reducing stress, and promoting relaxation. It is often used for various conditions related to the head, neck, and respiratory system, such as sinusitis, allergies, migraine, insomnia, and cognitive disorders. However, it is important to consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to determine the suitability of Nasya therapy for your specific needs.
